We had a great day at Sharrow Festival in Sheffield on Saturday, raising awareness of the risks of fracking.
The day started with an anti-fracking photo shoot, with a number of environmental campaign groups and individuals opposing fracking turning up to send a strong message to the oil and gas industry and the UK government: Fracking is not welcome in Yorkshire!
We enjoyed speaking to a wide range of people throughout the afternoon and are very grateful for all the support we received with our campaign against fracking. Our pile of letters objecting to Dart Energy’s application to drill exploratory wells at Tinker Lane in Nottinghamshire is now even bigger – as is our stack of postcards telling INEOS that we don’t want them to frack Yorkshire.
Many signed up to our ‘Do your street’ campaign, volunteering to deliver leaflets to houses on their street. Our Sheffield Against Fracking t-shirts are becoming very popular too.
Anne Fielding from Residents Action on Fylde Fracking (RAFF) visited us and brought some of their fantastic leaflets. Anne told us she was very impressed by our set up and the success of our Do Your Street campaign, with a large area of Sheffield covered already, thanks to all the heroes who have done their street.
Great music, great people, great weather – what more could we ask for?
